Congratulations! Today is your day. You’re off to Great Places! You’re off and away! You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You’re on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the guy who’ll decide where to go.

With school starting back, I can’t think of any wisdom more profound than that which was penned by the great Dr. Seuss. He sure knew how to put it, didn’t he?

If you’ve been a student for a while you know that this time of the year can be a little stressful, a little unsettling, but also very exciting. It’s the chance to re-connect with friends, visit favorite teachers and avoid others in whose class you didn’t fare too well. It’s the opportunity for a fresh start and a glimpse at what’s ahead.

For many students, a new romance is on the horizon; for others, the chance to make new friends and new memories. Wherever this school year leads, you’ll want to make more mature and conscientious decisions than ever before. “YOU are the guy who’ll decide where to go.”

But what happens when things happen that you don’t plan? What about plans that maybe weren’t so smart after all?

I’m sorry to say so, but, sadly it’s true that Bang-ups and Hang-ups can happen to you.
